I tell myself when I go to the store that steaks are EXPENSIVE! However, when you go out to eat and see the price of ONE steak, you realize that the butcher is not so expensive anymore, huh?
We went to the store yesterday and got 5 steaks and spent $30 which runs about $6 per steak. Considering the fact that my husband paid $18 a couple of nights before for a steak dinner at our favorite restaurant, I thought that was a pretty good deal.
We paired with a salad and baked potato and it turned out dee-lish!

I found out that I could buy a bag of romain hearts for only $1.99 compared to the $3.50 price of a pre-packaged salad and save some money. I added some carrots, cheese, and tomatoes to my romaine lettuce and the salad was awesome!
Our dining in experience with the steaks for the potatoes, salad, and steaks only run us around $40 for the total food (including the charcoal), so our meals cost around $8.00 per serving. Simple and inexpensive if I do say so myself!
Here is my favorite salad vinaigrette that I use most of the time!
Salad Vinaigrette
Ingredients:
1/2 cup of olive oil
2 tablespoons of lemon juice
2 teaspoons of fresh dill
1/4 teaspoon of salt
1/4 teaspoon of pepper
Directions:
Arrange the lettuce on four salad plates. Top with tomato and cucumber slices. In a jar with a tight-fitting lid, combine the oil, lemon juice, dill, salt and pepper; shake well. Drizzle over salads.

We have a hard time going out to eat steak at a restaurant. Just hate to pay those kind of prices. So, on date night, we buy some good steaks and cook them out at home. Your salad dressing looks really good so….next date night….steak and salad with your dressing! Thanks for sharing.
Hi Jen, yep, my husband is just like yours and thinks nothing of getting steak at a restaurant at 30 bucks a pop-we live in new york mind you! We are so sad because when he worked in the city we used to get these AMAZING sirloins from a little butcher near where he worked and they cost us like 5 a piece and the size of them was monstrous! I still like to have a steak every once in a while as a treat and they can be affordable if you get them on sale! Glad you enjoyed your lovely dinner and thanks so much for sharing it with us on the hearth and soul hop! All the best! Alex
i hear you on the steaks. we hardly go out for steak anymore because of the prices. i love the idea of a bit of dill in this dressing….thank you for sharing with tuesday night supper club!
