The Best Ranch Dressing You Will Ever Taste!

by Jennifer Sikora on May 18, 2011 · 9 comments

I was watching Food Network yesterday and 5 Ingredient Fix came on. Have you ever seen that show? If not, YOU are missing out! The host does a fabulous job of creating meals using only 5 ingredients.

Anyway, Claire (that’s the host) made this delicious looking homemade ranch dressing–without a seasoning packet from the grocery store! I was instantly hooked because I was dying for a salad, but was out of dressing–and let’s face it, I ain’t eatin’ dry lettuce!

I thought as I watched her make this, surely it is not that easy to make buttermilk ranch dressing for a salad? It has got to be more complicated than that! Guess what? It was THAT easy!

excuse the pic. I took with my Iphone and the lighting in my kitchen is terrible in the afternoons.

It literally took me just around 3-4 minutes to whip this up. Coming straight from the food processor it tastes delicious! I can only imagine how yummy it will taste after it has had time to sit in the fridge overnight :)

Here is how you can make this dressing too! You will definitely want to try this one. Not joking at all. It is SCRUMPTIOUS!

That sounds great! And would be totally healthy if you use good mayo (ie, no soy or canola).

Thanks!

I know! And the more it sits in the refrigerator, the better tasting it is.

I make my own ranch dressing too. I can’t even stand the taste of bottled dressings – making your own is so much more cost effective, tastes better, and is better for you. I love the addition of the scallions. That’s something I don’t add to mine, so I’ll have to remember to give that a try! :)

This was posted on a Facebook group I was on. Thanks so much… just whipped up a batch using thicker, Bulgarian buttermilk. DELISH!! We LOVE ranch but I refuse to buy the junk in the stores that is full of crud and monosodium glutamate. This is much fresher is very delicious! Thanks for sharing!

I am just curious as to why people always leave a comment (Ann,Jill,Holly) witout even making the recipe. We like to read the comments from people who have actually made and tried the recipe. You people have to much time on your hands.Try making the recipe before posting your, “I can’t wait to make this” jargon. And yes the recipe is excellent just as is!

I doubled the mayo, doubled the buttermilk and halved the onion and there was still enough garlic/onion strength to take the hair off my tongue. I’m all for 5 ingredients but maybe next time some other spices rather than so much gahhhhlic….
