I wrote this post while participating in a blog tour conducted by Clever Girls Collective on behalf of Children’s Claritin®. I have been compensated for my time commitment to the program.
My children have had allergy problems all their lives. They were born with it and inherited it from me I guess. Every year, I can expect to have sore throats, itchy eyes, swollen nodes and more due to their allergies.
So what are some tricks I do to alleviate or help lessen allergy attacks?
Here are a few things that I do during the year:
~Always keep allergy medication on hand for flare ups. Sometimes allergies will hit at a time when they are not normally present so I always try to keep some on hand. (If you watch the coupons and sales ad, you can get some allergy medicine for free or really cheap helping out your budget while you care for your kids)
~Make sure your kids are taking vitamins and getting plenty of Vitamin C. This does help their immune systems build up and help fight off things like allergens and viruses.
~When the kids come inside from playing outside, have them wash really well–take a bath, wash their hair, and put on clean clothes so that any pollen that stuck to them while they were outside will not continue to stay on their body.
~When the pollen count is high outside, find things for the kids to do inside to alleviate any allergy flare up.
So there you have it! Those are just a few of my tricks that I do to keep my children healthy and well during the allergy season.
Here is one more trick that we have learned!
My son gets really bad nose bleeds during allergy season. We used to hold his head back and pinch his nose closed. However the doctor gave up a couple of tips that will help the bleeding stop a lot faster:
~Have them hold their nose over the toilet and let it drain.
~While it is draining, grab a ziplock bag and put some ice in it and place it on the base of the neck for a few minutes. This will help the blood vessels to constrict. You can also lay it lightly on the bridge of the nose. The bleeding will stop within minutes.
