A couple of weeks, a group from my church went to a hockey game. I have never been to a live sporting event at all so I was extremely excited!!
We loaded up the van and headed to the Bridgestone Arena where we would hoot and holler for the Nashville Predators! We decided to go a bit earlier and do some sight seeing of downtown Nashville. Now, as long as I have lived in Kentucky, I have never toured downtown Nashville. My trips consisted of going to the mall, Opryland (now I am telling you my age), and the airport. This redneck country girl was looking forward to getting out and seeing the downtown buildings!
We arrived safe and sound thanks to Chris and my honey navigating the whole way there! We piled out for some group photo opps (you know I don’t go anywhere without taking photos)!

The site seeing was absolutely amazing!! There are SO many yummy restaurants on this strip. As a foodie, I wanted to try them all! I will definitely have to go back and eat my way through the Nashville strip some day.
Okay–back to the sight seeing.
Check out the photos I got of some different shots of the strip.
After walking up and down the strip, sightseeing and shopping, we decided to stop and eat. We chose Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville to eat it. The food was good, but pricey. So if you go there–expect to pay a little more for it than you would at a normal restaurant.
After eating, we walked around a little more and then went and had dessert at the Hard Rock Cafe! We jammed to old 80′s rock music and had a BLAST in there! We may or may not have belted out the entire Journey song “Don’t Stop Believing”. Don’t Judge. It was fun.
After our dessert run, it was time to head to the hockey game. As we got closer to the Bridgestone Arena, I was filled with anticipation. Our friend Chris had been telling me how much fun these hockey games could be. Had he built up my expectations too much? Would I be bored? Would it interest me? He kept telling me I would have a blast, and ya know what? OH MY WORD–he was RIGHT!
It’s extremely cold in the hockey rink so make sure you bring a jacket if you are cold natured. I am really cold natured, but honestly, once I got into the game, I did NOT need my jacket.
We sat in the “Cell block” section and according to Chris, this is the section that comes up with all the chants. If you go to a hockey game, you must be ready to scream things like–
- HEY YO–YOU SUCK!
- IT’S ALL YOUR FAULT!
- HIT THE PUCK-YOU SUCK!
And LOTS of other chants. It is A-MAZING and thrilling to say the least.
The Preds lost that night, but I don’t care. It was just a blast hanging out with our friends and learning a new sport. Yes–I have fallen in love with hockey!!
We ended the night with a late night food run to White Castle, which turned out to be a bust. After screaming for over 2 hours at a hockey game, you work up a serious appetite!

We are going again this coming week. Yes I am a glutton for fun punishment!
Have you ever been to a hockey game? What was your reaction to the sport?
