160.8 – I am in Utter Shock

When I started losing weight at the beginning of January, I was serious about getting serious this time, but nothing prepared me for the number on the scale this week y’all — 160.8.

I have lost a total of 8 pounds.

Looking good for 2014

I did not think that I was going to really meet my goal of a 10 pound weight loss for January. Many have told me that I set my goals too high, but I know my body and I knew that this would possibly not be a problem.

But — when my monthly friend came to visit this month, I had my doubts, because instead of losing any I gained 5 pounds back. Oh water weight gain and bloating — what shall we ever do with you?

Tips I have learned this week

After finishing the book and writing my review for Food Triggers (which I highly recommend for anyone wanting to learn about how their bodies react to food), I have gotten a better hold on what foods I can and can’t eat and how often I can allow myself to have them.

Now that I have that information handy, I have been making dinners like this yummy Shrimp Taco meal and finding ways to eat more fruits and veggies.

I am drinking more water and making myself exercise.

Yes — you read that right. I have to make myself get up to exercise, but in the end… it is SO worth it.

I still have a very long road ahead of me, but I am slowly but surely getting there.

I will be SO glad when it warms up so I can take my little Tucker walking again. I miss the warm sun and walking to my music.

Starting Weight: 168.8

Last week’s weigh in: 164.2

This week’s weigh in: 160.8

Total lost so far:  8 pounds

Goal weight: 130

I also wrote a few posts since my last weigh in on some recipes that will help you jumpstart your weight loss as well as some key success points if you are using Weight Watchers — which I am not, but I have in the past and it was very effective.

Next week, I will update with a new pic for February and share my goals for that month.

I have now at least shed the weight I gained over the holidays. I’d like to drop another pound or two to get me in my “comfort zone” (you know that zone that you can be in and still gain a couple of pounds and not feel bad about it :) ). More over my goal is to actually keep moving, I’m pretty sedentary and KNOW (especially at my age) I need to move more not so much for the calorie burning/weight loss but just to keep those parts active so in 10 more years they are not all locking up on me from un-use!
