2013 was a great year for me. So many things happened to me that just really caused me to fall head over heels in love with writing and blogging. Here is a look back at my year.
In January, my daughter started taking drum lessons and found out that she loved it more that breathing. She is definitely becoming that girl rocker that has been buried inside of her for so long! So proud of her.
In February — I got to meet Mila Kunis, James Franco, and other actresses and and actors whom I have adored for years. I was swept up in all the glitz and glamor that L.A. had to offer as I attended the Disney’s Oz Premier at the El Capitan Theater. That was epic and so much fun.
While on this trip, I also worked with Sony and while promoting ebooks and their fabulous ereader, I got to meet Michael Connelly, who is the author of one of my favorite all time books — The Lincoln Lawyer.
In March, we had to move AGAIn – which made 2 times in less than a year that we had to move. We have now been in the house we are living at now for almost a year, and I am SO thankful that we can finally put some roots down.
My husband also took me on a surprise date to see Third Day and Colton Dixon in concert, which was totally worth it by the way He even bought me cotton candy and took me out to a nice dinner beforehand!
In April, I headed to Texas to attend the Ride N Drive that was promoted by Cooper Tire and fell in love with a brand that cares about me as a mom and wife more than they care about my money.
We also celebrated my daughter’s 15th birthday and I surprised her with a spa day complete with lunch, massage and pedicure. It was definitely a day worth remembering for this mother/daughter duo.
I got new heels — that is ALWAYS a plus.
I May, I headed to Cleveland to visit the Nestle Test Kitchen and headquarters to learn all about Hot Pockets. I had a blast and discovered more than ever that I love cooking and I met some amazing new friends who I cherish deeply!
During May, we also graduated my son from homeschooling. He went to work full time with my husband and is growing into a fine young, independent individual.
In June, my family and I went on a vacation to the Creation Museum. It was so much fun and we had a blast. I had always wanted to go ever since they had built it, but just had not found the time to do that. I finally carved out a few days, so we headed to Hebron KY where we had a blast and ate some very scrumptious food.
When we returned home from vacation, we found this little sweetie hiding under some plants and she became the newest member of our family.
In July, we sent our daughter off to music camp where she had a dream come true — she got to meet a member of her favorite band Skillet, and get pictures taken with him.
At this point in her life — she was completely and totally happy and care free. It was amazing.
In August, we started our homeschool year with our daughter beginning her 10th grade year. It is hard to believe that I only have 2 years left of homeschooling. I honestly never thought I would make it this far.
Then — September rolled around and we finally got to take a real family vacation — to Florida!!! We had such an epic time visiting places like Gatorland, Sea World, taking boat rides, eating food, and staying in a very luxurious house complete with personal in ground swimming pool.
I also attended my first blogging conference in Atlanta — the Type-A conference, which if you are going to go to ANY conference, this is the one to go to. There is just so much one on one there with brands and other bloggers – it feels like a great big family!
In October, I got to visit Myrtle Beach and find out how much I adore being around the ocean. I honestly wish I could just sit on the beach for an entire day and just watch the waves rolling in and out. Nothing compares to the beauty and glory of the water.
In November, I made the decision to leave my job that I adored more than anything to pursue my writing career. It was a scary move, but I know that it is a move in the right direction.
December was spent just enjoying my family and friends and taking some time off.
Now – here we are at the beginning of January and I am excited about what 2014 holds. I am hoping to travel some more this year and I have already made plans for a couple of blogging conferences to attend this year.
What about you? How was 2013 to you?
