I love that I can save 80 dollars in energy savings per bulb #LEDSavings #Shop

I am bound and determined that THIS summer, we are going to learn how to save energy and keep our costs down. I don’t know if you have noticed or not, but electric bills are sky rocketing, mine included. I used an energy consumption calculator a couple of weeks ago just to find out how much we were using and I was very shocked at the totals.

Because of that, I have come up with 3 ways to save energy this summer. Hopefully some of these tips will help you.

3 Ways to Save Energy This Summer

All of these tips can be accomplished — just by changing out your lighting. A simple fix that can be taken care of using the GE Energy Smart LED lightbulbs that I picked up my local Walmart last week.

You can find the GE LED Energy Smart light bulbs in the electrial aisles at Walmart #LEDSavings #Shop

1. Change out the lightbulbs in your home with LED Energy Smart Bulbs

Lighting makes up about 10% of home electricity costs. You can save up to 80% of that energy by simply replacing your traditional incandescents with super bright leds. They will also last you for years after the summer is gone, saving money on replacements, which is very cost effective for me.

2. Lower your cooling costs by switching out your light bulbs

Have you ever put your hand up to a regular light bulb? Notice how crazy hot it gets? That is adding HEAT to your home, which makes your air conditioner run crazy.

Only 10% of the energy from traditional bulbs is used for light – the rest is wasted as heat. By using led power from these bulbs, it gives off less heat, which means you can reduce your need for air conditioning and save money.

3. LED light bulbs are quiet — so you can work more efficiently

Okay – this one is a stretch, but I am a blogger– and I sit beside a lamp most of the day, so when my traditional light bulbs were on, they made this annoying humming noise. It honestly stopped me from being productive. Now that I have replaced them with the LED bulbs, I am saving MY energy — and my sanity.

I love how bright these lights get  — instantly! It’s not something that takes forever. I hate light bulbs that take anywhere from 10-15 minutes to get to its brightest form. With the GE Energy Smart LED bulbs, they are instant bright!

Still not convinced about the difference? Here is an infographic that shows the difference in bulbs and the savings you can see –just by using LED bulbs.
