Distance learning methods have changed over the years. From sending modules in the post to classes via livestream, it has enabled many individuals who are not able to be physically present in a classroom to learn about the different topics and subjects that are normally taught only within the four corners of a lecture hall. Providers of online education offer numerous topics of interest, from traditional academic courses such as biology and physics, to the more hip subject matters such as contemporary smartphone photography.

Yesterday I wrote a post about just letting go and stop trying to be the perfect mom, wife, and Christian. The more I pondered on that post, the more I realized that I learned a lot while making homemade pasta with my daughter.

There is nothing worse than getting cut and having to hid your scars. I remember once when I was about 7 or 8 years old. I was swimming with my family at the lake. I went to hop up on the boat dock and underneath, some wires had been cut and my leg got caught on one. Let’s just say, that 10″ rip in my leg was a very nasty cut. Thankfully, I did not need any stitches, but what was left behind was a very disgusting scar that I still have to this day.

Today’s writing prompt: Beautiful

For the longest time, the word beautiful meant nothing to me. When I looked in the mirror, all I could see was adulterer, sinner, drunk, whore — those were the names that I was called most of my life by the ones who love me and called me friend. I couldn’t hold my head up anymore because of the burdens that weighed me down. Beautiful was something that I was not.

Yesterday I watched a video by designer Jessica Rey where she was talking about modesty and the bikini. If you have not seen it, GO WATCH IT HERE NOW. I must say that it was very thought provoking and really gave me some food for thought. Since we teach our youth at church, and I have teenagers at home, I am asked all the time what I think about young girls who wear bikinis. Here are my thoughts on the subject.

I was compensated to write this post, however all opinions are my own.

Our youth group is having to  raise money to go to Cedar Point next month. They have a long hard road ahead of them to get the funds gathered, but I know they can do it. They did it when we went to Florida last year. They are just HUGE workers when it comes to raising money.

Have you ever watched a baby bird who is just getting its feathers and almost ready to take that big leap in the air, but not really sure? He teeters on the branch raising one leg and then the other. He makes himself stand tall as he flaps his wings checking out to see if they are really going to work or not. He stands there unsure of himself, thinking — “maybe I should, but then again, maybe I shouldn’t. The next thing you know, Momma Bird has come along and shoved Baby bird right out of the nest.

Today’s Topic for Five Minute Friday is Imagine:

Today I look outside and it’s raining. Just yesterday, my homeschool friends and I had a blast with our end of the year party. We played in a pool, enjoyed roasted hot dogs and lots of sweet fellowship time.

It’s time’s like those that my imagination runs wild. I think to myself, what I wouldn’t give just to be that carefree all the time.

After wrestling with God last week and then finally saying yes to Him, I am now anticipating the next step in this process of realizing and acting on my God sized dream. My sweet husband bought a chaise lounge for our bedroom that we can both use –his for study time to prepare when he has to teach, and me to write when I need some peace and quiet.
