Jen’s Thoughts
This book has truly changed my home life and my family. It has taught me so many different ways and places where I can save money in our grocery budget. THANK GOD — because our grocery budget was getting a little out of hand. One of the best parts of this book is Kasey teaches how everyone can use what she has learned and turn it into a ministry of giving to others.
I love that this book does not try to make couponing out to be this “EXTREME” way that you have to live, but teaches you how to use them in moderation.
This book is a definite need for every family.

I received a fabulous pair of Infinity X Infinity earrings from Helzberg Diamonds in exchange for this review. All opinions listed are my own.
Mother’s Day has always been special to me. It is a day for JUST me, so that I can relax and be pampered — and never have to lift a finger. My husband and my kids go out of their way to make me feel loved and adored. I mean, they do that every day anyway. I am one blessed mama — but on Mother’s Day, they go all out.
In fact, they have gone as far as getting me massages, cleaning my house until it is spotless — and even going as far as cooking an entire meal just for me. I truly feel loved and cherished when they go out of their way to do special things for me.
Here are 3 gifts that you can give this Mother’s Day that won’t cost a fortune.
- Pampering: Moms love gifts like spa days, mani’s pedi’s, hair salon visits — these all make great gifts to give to mom on Mother’s Day. Even if your mom is not a girly girl, she will love the fact that you gave her a few moments of peace to restore her sanity. These gifts can range anywhere from $20-$50.
- A Night with No Cooking Involved: Take mom out for a real fancy dinner. Splurge if you can and go somewhere special that is one of her favorites. For me, my family takes me to eat pasta every once in a while. It is one of my favorite things to do, but can be very expensive. So — they save this for a once every 6 months type of thing. For our family of 4, to eat somewhere like this runs around $60.
- Jewelry: Every woman I know loves to get jewelry from their family members. This year Helzberg Diamonds wants to help you give the gift of jewelry through their Infinity X Infinity Collection
Helzberg’s exclusive new INFINITY X INFINITY jewelry collection, inspired by ABC Television’s prime time hit series “Revenge” and lead character Emily Thorne and her father’s mantra, “I love you infinity times infinity,” provides the perfect way to share that special love – with some sparkle, too!
Created by award-winning jewelry designer Udi Behr, the collection emphasizes the double infinity insignia, symbolizing infinite love, and with a robust collection ranging in price from $49.99 to $1,299, it offers the perfect gift on any budget this Mother’s Day.
My Thoughts on the Inifinity X Infinity Collection
I received the Diamond earrings from the collection. From the moment I opened the box, I was in love. These are THE cutest earrings I have ever seen.
The earrings are made of sterling silver with a total of 1/10 of a carat in the earrings. They are light and not heavy which is great, because my ears are pretty sensitive and if the earrings are heavy, then my lobes get irritated.
I wore them to church and everyone was commenting on my gorgeous earrings! These are very affordable at only $99.99 and if you order them now, you can get them in time for Mother’s Day!
Follow Helzberg on Twitter and like on Facebook to keep up with new jewelry pieces and special discounts.

Master Lock knows exactly how important tax season is. With the deadline looming right around the corner, here are a few top tax tips to make sure that you are on the right track with your taxes for 2013.
1. Request electronic copies of your tax forms. Many employers offer employees the option to receive their W-2 forms electronically, instead of by mail. By eliminating the risk of postal delays or missed deliveries, this ensures that your W-2 will be delivered securely as soon as it is available. Plus, faster W-2s can mean faster tax returns.
2. Securely store documents online. Avoid the mess of a mound of paperwork by storing – and organizing – all of your tax-related documents online. By utilizing a free, secure service such as the Master Lock Vault (www.masterlockvault.com) you’ll have easy access to all of your files wherever you are and help ensure that none of your paper documents will ever be lost, misplaced, stolen or damaged. Not only can you upload PDF forms, but you can upload photos from your phone of important receipts and expenses for your records. All data is instantly synchronized between the website and the App. Bonus: securely store log-in information for your bank accounts and tax filing site in the Vault so you’ll never have to worry about forgetting your username or password.
3. Think taxes year-round. Don’t wait until you’re ready to file your taxes to start collecting and organizing the supporting documents you’ll need to complete your return. Avoid the scramble by capturing and uploading a digital image of your receipt each time you pay the babysitter or have a tax deductible transaction, fill a prescription at the pharmacy, or make a charitable contribution such as dropping off a clothing donation to your local thrift store.
4. Opt for direct deposit. If you’ve done everything else online, why request a hard-copy check when it comes time to claim your refund? When combined with electronic filing, direct deposit is the fastest way to get your refund. If you’re on the other side of the spectrum and find that you owe taxes, opt to pay online and you can avoid the long tax-season lines at the post office.
5. Call for help. Sometimes, outside advice is necessary, and you can now get the help you need without leaving home. Based on the complexity of your question, there are a variety of resources to turn to. For example, the IRS offers a toll free hotline for tax questions during weekdays. Several tax-prep software providers also offer guidance via online forums or on their social media feeds.

When I was 16 and got my first car, gas was only 1.00 a gallon. That honestly seems like such a long time ago now that gas is around $3.50 a gallon! Every year gas costs seem to rise more and more. It makes me want to stay at home and NOT leave! There are a few things that you can do to help save money on your fuel costs. I have listed 5 of my favorite ways below.
5 Ways to Save Money on Your Fuel Costs
Plan Your Route
I can’t tell you the countless times that I have run out to go do my errands only to find myself driving and backtracking. On a day when you know that you have to go run errands, make yourself a map of all the places you have to visit. Put them in order so you can just make a round trip without having to backtrack. It will save on gas in the long run.
When You Can — Carpool
My friend and I like to take shopping trips to the city. She always offers to drive, so she and I split the gas when we go. This helps me from having to pay the full price for a tank of gas.
Change Daily Trips Into Weekly Trips
I am THE world’s worst about making a daily trip into town, simply because I live right here in town. However — it still costs me gas to do that. The best thing you can do is start planning out your trips and only go once a week instead of daily. Do all your shopping, bill paying, and whatever else you have to do all in one trip. This will also help you save money at home as well because you will be less tempted to eat out. You will fix more meals at home.
Buy Your Gas During the Week
Try to buy your gas during the week if you can. Our local stations have always pretty much raised their prices on the weekends, and especially on holiday weekends. So wait to fill up until they come back down a bit, maybe on Tuesdays or Wednesdays.
Join a Fuel Rewards Network Program
I was recently introduced to Fuel Rewards Network Program. It’s really easy to use. Simply shop with participating Shell stations, restaurants, online merchants and more to earn fuel rewards savings redeemable at Shell Stations nationwide. It’s like you are getting paid FREE gas just for doing what you do everyday!
With the Fuel Rewards Network Program, you can earn rewards just for the things you buy. If you dine out, you can earn .10/per gallon off for every $50 you spend. For my family of four — that is not hard to do at all. If you do a lot of shopping online, Fuel Rewards Network Program has an online mall. Shop through major name brands like Gap, Old Navy, Home Depot, and Best Buy, and you can save .5/per gallon for every $50 spent.
Enter to Win
Right now, I am giving away 5 Fuel Rewards Network Program Cards that are already pre-loaded with $1.00 per gallon in fuel savings. All you have to do to enter is use the Rafflecopter form below. It’s really very easy! This giveaway will close on 3/17 and all cards will be mailed out to the winners.

What apps have you found helpful lately in saving you time and money?
Clipping coupons is no longer the thing you mom did if she found a good deal on a cake box mix she likes in the Sunday paper. It’s now a verb. Couponing. As in to “coupon”. It really became a ‘craze’ once the economy hit a low, and has taken hold since. Now, it’s not so strange to be standing in line next to a mom who has so many coupons she actually saves more than she spent. While we all might not be as enthusiastic about couponing, there are definitely some benefits to spending a little time checking deals and discounts. The grocery bill is where we’d all like to see a bit of a drop in price. Here are some tips to help you accomplish that at the checkout counter.
5 Tips to Save Money on Your Grocery Bill
Check Your Local Listings
The Sunday newspaper is still a go-to-guide for some of the best coupons you can find. All of the grocery stores as well as department stores post their sales and coupons in the Sunday mailer. In addition to looking in the local paper, check out national magazines. Magazines like Redbook or Good Housekeeping frequently carry manufacturer coupons. No matter where you get your coupons from, check the date.
Read the Fine Print
What many folks aren’t aware of is their ability to double dip. If you’ve got a store coupon, many times you can couple it with a manufacturer’s coupon, and save yourself even more money. Many stores also carry in-store coupons. Again, make sure you read the fine print, but it’s another way to double dip. Obviously searching for coupons that match the weekly specials may take a little more time, but it can definitely be done.
Online Groceries
Another place to look for great deals and coupons for your groceries is online. Many companies like WalMart carry grocery items online. You can find lots of coupons from WalMart. You may not even need to leave your home to get a great deal.
Check Couponing Sites
Spend a little time on your weekend before you run the errands to check couponing websites. Sites like savings.com or couponmom.com can help you maximize your coupons with discounts on specific items or at certain stores. Sites like these are operated by people who spend a lot of time trolling the internet for the best deals for their readers. It may surprise you some of the deals you didn’t know about.
Clip and File
One of the most important things you can do to save time and money is to clip the coupon as soon as you see it and save it. You may not need it right now, but next week. It also helps to keep all of your coupons in one file, so when you’re ready to shop and make your grocery list, you’ve got all of your coupons ready to go.
Spending a little time couponing may end up saving you a lot of money.

I received a copy of this book in order to write this review. All opinions listed are my own.
There’s no shortage of credit card tips out there on the Internet and the opinion of one of millions of bloggers isn’t going to rank high on the list in terms of significance. But lately, it’s been impossible to resist the urge to talk about credit card responsibility. Maybe it’s the fact that countless folks including myself are still dealing with the debts of the holidays, or perhaps it’s some subconscious urge to slyly send a message to some unnamed squirts to start thinking about these things. Either way, while what is about to be preached is not always practiced by yours truly, it’s simply how this writer has come to appreciate the inherent catches, clauses, and side effects of using credit cards with cash back and other popular credit options.
The most important thing anyone intending or currently using credit cards must understand is that you are pitting your unpredictable life and the financial choices therein against the wits of brilliant companies worth billions. Besides enriching and further empowering the top brass, the billions of dollars credit card companies collect every year through interest alone goes to funding research aimed at figuring out further ways to seduce consumers into getting themselves deeper into credit card debt. Their business model, after all, consists of nothing more than profiting from interest accumulated from borrowing with high interest. While it practically runs itself, there are always new ways to make more money.
But the true brilliancy in the credit card business is the near-necessity of credit cards in modern life. For convenience and sometimes for survival, just about everyone has one or two or three or more credit cards they use. For credit card companies this is a win-win: either you stay responsible and simply use them in a bank function, pay a little in interest over time, or pay a lot. For consumers, it’s a hard pill to swallow but one just about everyone has to take. Credit card debt is often a necessary evil.
The only thing those with credit cards can hope to truly gain from the specialized offers that stem from calculated strategies to net more interest is to use these snares as motivation to avoid allowing the debt to roll over months and years. If it’s a no annual fee credit card and thus one with a bit higher interest, let the truth nature of the card be what keeps you from overspending with it. No matter how clever the commercial or happy the person in an online banner ad looks, beware the true intentions of credit card companies.
Then, use their services safely and responsibly. It’s far easier said than done, but so is living credit card free. Dealing with the devil is a part of life and an acceptable one at that – just so long as you never mistaken him for an actual friend.

I use Retail Me Not like it’s my third arm — especially when I am shopping for a great deal. I discovered this little beauty when I was working at JC Penney. There was always a $10 off coupon on there somewhere, and these always came in handy during the $10 off $25, plus they could be combined with my store discount, and my rewards points, so I always saved these for when I needed to do some mega shopping. Because I used all those items combined, I could walk out with 3 bags of clothes (enough to outfit my daughter for 2 years) for around $50-$60.

In making a household budget, you should use an electronic spreadsheet or a columnar pad with at least 13 money columns. The reason is that you need to plan income and expenses for at least one year. Since insurance payments and taxes are paid annually or semiannually, you do not want to be caught with any surprises that will disrupt your lifestyle.
You should begin by listing your income and expenses in column A. You should expand the column so that the account titles will fit in the column. The next step is to list your income for each month beginning in cell B2. List each source of income on a separate line. After listing your income, calculate the total for each month.
The next step is to prioritize your expenses. To determine the priority, you should consider the consequences of a missed payment. If missing a payment means that you will be living on the streets, you want to make that payment.
The next step is to list your insurance and taxes in the months that payments are due. These are the months that extra cash will be needed to pay these debts. One of the best ways to smooth the payments is to divide the annual payments by 12, and treat it as an outstanding check. However, for this method to be successful, you must practice self-discipline.
Since dollars saved on essential items can be used for entertainment, you should look for every budget stretcher available. Manufacturers’ coupons may not help you save for retirement, but the savings could allow you to take in a few plays or movies. Some people wait for years before treating themselves to a concert. If you allocate your money better you’ll be able to afford Willie Nelson tickets or any number of amazing shows at least once every few months.
Since knowing the exact amount for any expenditure makes planning easier, you should contact your utility companies to arrange levelized billing. If they don’t offer levelized billing, you should use a similar technique with the utilities that was suggested with taxes and insurance. You should determine the average monthly payment, and treat various amounts as outstanding checks in months you owe smaller payments.
After budgeting for the essentials, you are ready to determine the amounts that are available for entertainment. Although the budgeting for entertainment is determined last, it does not mean that entertainment is not important. Families enjoying one another in relaxing environments build relationships that are not built in any other environment.
By subtracting the essential expenses from the income, you see what is left for entertainment. If you are fortunate, you have enough to eat out, go to concerts, or do what you want to do. If there is not enough, you can do a little better with the planning.
The cost of groceries can be reduced by making a shopping list, using coupons and taking advantage of sales. Avoid impulse buying, and plan your meals. In buying clothing, you should check online for promotion codes and special deals. There are many online opportunities to save on many items, and starting to save money gets easier along the way.

Everyone knows that small changes can add up to big savings when it comes to household spending. However, getting everyone in the family involved in reducing waste and energy costs can be a bit of a challenge. When each person in the family contributes to saving money, the entire family benefits from the positive feelings generated by working towards a common cause.
Therefore, the following tips have been designed to help each family member find a way that they can contribute to helping the family to save on everyday expenditures.
Twenty-four Hour Rule: Many families waste money on impulse purchases. This is especially common when shopping at the end of the day or with young children. Additionally, when a person is hungry, then they are more likely to grab convenience foods such as chips and microwave meals that often cost more than meals made with fresh ingredients. Young children are often tempted by small toys and candies at the check-out counter.
Therefore, family members should commit to sticking to a list and waiting at least twenty-four hours before buying something that they see on impulse. It is amazing how many of these items are forgotten before the end of the day.
Create a Competition: In order to generate excitement about savings, the entire family can make games out of saving money on energy and groceries. For example, a family could establish a coupon clipping competition to see who can find the most coupons that add up to the greatest amount of savings in a certain period of time.
Additionally, a family could also create a chart to keep track of whoever leaves the lights on in their room. At the end of the competition, whoever has the least marks could win a small treat. By making a game out of savings, family members will begin to view saving money as less of a hassle and more as a rewarding family project.
Save on Entertainment: One way to get everyone on board with saving in the family is to plan for a portion of the savings to be used on a family holiday. Of course, it is essential to continue practice good money habits even on a family splurge. Therefore, a savings program such as smartsave can be helpful for reducing the entertainment costs associated with a family vacation. Additionally, families can save on entertainment by packing lunches for day trips and sharing snacks at the movies.
When everyone in the family is involved in saving money, then even the youngest family member is able to learn how to manage their finances through savings. Simply cutting down on non-necessities, engaging family members in savings competitions and planning for a special event can all lead up to major savings when everyone works together.
I made some really bad mistakes as a teenager. My mom never taught me the importance of keeping my credit score up and that paying my bills on time would be something I needed to stay on top of. She never taught me the importance of credit cards and that if you get one, be sure and pay it off on time. By the time I was 20, I had over $6,000 in credit card debt.
I spent a great deal of my time after that trying to get a loan to pay off my debts, but because my credit had been ruined by my credit card use, no one would give me the time of day. I am 37 years old now and I am still paying for those mistakes I made in my teenage years.
Whether you have credit card debt, unpaid bills, a car emergency, or whatever you need money for, places like Bad Credit Loans can help. Bad Credit Loans is a short term loan company that can help you get yourself back on track. For me, places like this help me make my payments so I am not constantly behind.
A perfect spending history simply is not possible for many American households, especially in times like these. Even with a planned budget or spending strategies, you can still be thrown off by one unexpected car repair or other emergency when already living check to check. A short-term loan can get you to your next check when there are no other solutions.
Bad Credit Loans connects consumers to the best lenders available regardless of credit history. Many types of loans are available including personal, business, mortgage, home, student, and auto loans.
“In today’s world, it’s become all too easy to get trapped by finances. Bad Credit Loans gives you a way out by connecting you to the assistance you need to help weather a financial emergency and get back on track quickly and responsibly,” says Herbert Smith, spokesperson for Bad Credit Loans. “We’ll help you access funds to pay off past-due bills, fix the car, or take care of whatever is holding you back—today.”
Bad Credit Loans helps people get the funds they are looking for from the convenience of their desktop computer or mobile device, which makes it hassle free and fast. There is no fee to use the service and there is no obligation to take the loan presented to you. For more information, visit http://www.badcreditloans.com/
